CONNECT Beyond
CONNECT Beyond is the Greater Charlotte Region’s effort to coordinate and expand local transportation options. The project consists of a two state (North Carolina and South Carolina), twelve county study to create a unified regional transit vision and plan. The study will in turn provide project partners with innovative solutions that will enhance mobility and access beyond the current state and county borders. In the end, local transit authorities will bring their current services and resources together to provide residents and visitors with more seamless services to access to jobs, education, medical facilities, entertainment centers and more!
The project began with a series of branding workshops to define the projects mission, vision, purpose, values, tone and visual identity. Visually we leaned on simplicity and concept. Several versions were left behind and many variations were made to reach the final three-dimensional version.
Since the CONNECT Beyond project covers such a large area it was important for us to highlight all the different types of people and locations within the 12 county area. Strategically placing people and the use of local services was important from an inclusion perspective. Using those elements in imagery and in the written language helps everyone imagine how much of a benefit this effort would be to them as individuals and the region as a whole.
A major component of this project is understanding where/how people in our region are commuting and how they would like to commute in the future. To gain insight on this and provide information about the project we’ve developed surveys, a project website, social media content, a toolkit of project resources and more!
The results from the survey and social media performance are then analyzed and reported back in a communications report so project partners can clearly understand what the residents of our region would benefit from the most. The CONNECT Beyond Mobility Plan is set to be released in 2021. Visit the project website at www.connect-beyond.com to see and learn more.
